It's a wrap!! And we are still floating at the extremely positive response at the World Premiere for our film PLASTIC MAN: THE ARTFUL LIFE OF JERRY ROSS BARRISH at the Mill Valley Film Festival earlier this month.
Both of our screenings were sold out and then we were offered an additional screening the closing day of the Festival. Four and half years of planning, dreaming, filming, fundraising and editing have resulted in in one terrific story. We are beaming with joy; our audiences were so complimentary, raving about how we told Jerry's story and loving the brilliant score by composer Beth Custer!
The film raises the challenge of how to engage the public in the joy of appreciating art and the joy of creativity and reflects on the times that Jerry Barrish, the artist, the socially conscience bail bondsman and the filmmaker lived through, but it also gives the universal message that creation satisfies the soul.
Our joy of accomplishment is now balanced with the reality that in order to deliver a finished film for a Festival screening we put ourselves in debt. ...Expenditures for the final weeks of editing, archival footage, the terrific sound mix, color correction and music score took us into the red. We need an additional $8,000 to cover those expenses.
And now that we have our first screenings behind us we are looking at a "to do" list that includes creation of a sizzling trailer, a creative website, costs for a publicist and a community engagement plan. All of this needs a new infusion of financial support of an additional $15,000.
We thank you for your past support and are hoping now with a finished film that you will help us take our story out and into the world! Actually the finishing of the film is the BEGINNING of the film's life and we need your help to get us there.
Many thanks for your consideration of this request. We are happy to offer an 'Executive Producer' credit for the full amount of $23,000. Producer's Circle credit for $5,000. And for gifts of $1000 or more we will send you a SIGNED DVD of Plastic Man! Actually anything will help, $25, $36, $50, $100 whatever your budget can handle.
